To make a referral or schedule an appointment, call 706-434-0052.

A partnership between Walton Rehabilitation Health System and MedEx Associates, the Walton Wound Care and Infusion Center is the first center in the CSRA to provide a dual focus on wound care and infusion, combined with a rehabilitation component.

The multidisciplinary approach of the Walton Wound Care and Infusion Center ensures that any patient who requires wound care and/or infusion therapy can be treated in a single office. And a dedicated wound care and infusion center-particularly one with a rehab emphasis-ensures that patients with complex issues continue to receive a broad continuum of care. The comprehensive services will benefit patients who have sustained a traumatic injury, amputation of a limb, surgical complications, serious infections or who suffer with chronic wounds.

The Wound Care and Infusion team includes wound-certified physicians, surgeons, infectious disease specialists, internists and qualified nursing staff.

The Walton Wound Care and Infusion Center focuses on caring for chronic non-healing wounds, including:

  • Diabetic wounds
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Venous ulcers
  • Arterial ulcers
  • Cellulitis
  • Trauma
  • Post-surgical wounds
  • Osteomyelitis

Wound care treatments include:

  • Advanced wound dressing
  • Surgical debridement
  • Vacuum-assisted closure
  • Bioengineered tissue
  • Growth factors
  • Dressings and wraps to decrease lower leg swelling
  • Non-invasive arterial and venous studies, bone scans, X-rays, biopsies and lab studies

Infusion services include:

  • Intravenous antibiotics
  • Intravenous antifungals
  • Blood products
  • Intravenous iron therapy
  • IVIG infusions
  • IV Procrit

As an added therapy, rehabilitation works to treat the whole patient. In conjunction with a physical therapist, specific exercises aid patients with chronic wounds or infections by increasing strength, mobility and functionality, improving circulation and building confidence, which can improve overall patient outcomes.

The Walton Wound Care and Infusion Center is located at 630 13th St., Suite 100 (across from Walton's main campus).
