Why Walton?
Walton Rehabilitation Health System is the only comprehensive, specialized provider of physical medicine and rehabilitation in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). Walton is accredited by The Joint Commission and by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Services offered range from inpatient and outpatient programs for persons recovering from stroke, head injuries, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic injuries, chronic pain and other disabling illnesses and injuries to transitional living, assisted living and other community supports. In its mission to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities, Walton Rehabilitation Health System has grown to include not only our inpatient rehabilitation hospital and outpatient therapy services, but also physician services, Walton Community Services, Walton Wound Care and Infusion Center, Aiken Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center and Walton Foundation for Independence.
Walton's simple campus layout and easily accessible walkways are accommodating to individuals with physical disabilities. Our single-story facilities are specifically designed to accommodate physical rehabilitation patients.
Walton's central location allows collaboration with the Medical College of Georgia, University Health System, the Augusta VA Medical Center, Trinity Hospital, Doctor's Hospital and Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Walton cares for more stroke patients each year than any other rehabilitation hospital in Georgia.
Walton was honored with the 2007 NAHMA's Communities of Quality awards for the Development for the Elderly and the Development for Residents with Special Needs.
Walton received the 2003 Magnolia Award for Excellence in affordable, accessible rental housing. Walton fosters research and development of new or improved methods, procedures, and devices, in the fields of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and in Pain and Headache Management.
