Walton West



Located in Augusta, Georgia, the Walton West Community Re-Entry houses a post-acute rehabilitation program for people who have an acquired brain injury or dual diagnosis of brain and spinal cord injury. Walton West features specialized rehabilitation to help return clients to living independently in the shortest time possible and in a cost effective manner.

Upon entering the program, each client is individually assessed as needed by Walton West's interdisciplinary team, led by Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician. The team's evaluation identifies the client's specific behavioral, cognitive, and motor deficits and strengths. Based upon the evaluation, the team then develops a program around the client's needs, taking into account the family's desires, as well. The program utilizes a variety of learning techniques, physical, occupational and speech therapy, cognitive retraining and applied behavioral methods to help the client progress towards his or her goals.

Walton West features the following programs:
1. Activities of Daily Living Program to improve a client’s abilities to manage their everyday living requirements, such as eating/nutrition, medication management, mobility and money management.
2. Behavior/Socialization Program to improve social and behavior skills.
3. Vocational Re-Entry to help clients return to school or work. These programs involve education and vocational training to enhance job search and retention skills and are done through various community partnerships.
4. Supportive Living Program to allow individuals to live in apartment setting with support from case management, nursing, transportation, and vocational services.
