A Home for Brain Injury Survivors, Thanks to Walton

What:           Walton Rehabilitation Health System will break ground on Walton West Villas, a new six-apartment home for brain injury survivors. The new villas will be completely ADA-compliant and give brain injury survivors the ability to live on their own, with support and assistance available from the adjacent Walton West Transitional Living Center.

When:   Tuesday, October 13, at 5 p.m.
Where:  Site of Walton West Villas (1068 Bertram Road, adjacent to Walton West Transitional Living Center, 2501 Center West Parkway)

Why:    Locally, there is a lack of affordable, accessible housing available for those with disabilities related to brain injury and other disorders. Walton is working to fill that gap as part of its mission to provide community supports for those following an injury or life-changing disability.

Walton West Villas joins Walton West Brain Injury Transitional Living Center as the start of a Walton campus devoted to supporting the independence and continued healing of survivors of traumatic brain injury. The villas add another piece to Walton’s continuum of care for brain injury, which includes inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, Walton West Brain Injury Support Group, Harison Heights Assisted and Independent Living, and Walton West Transitional Living Center and Community Re-entry Program, which helps brain injury survivors relearn daily skills before returning home.
