Independent Living Communities

After researching the need for accessible, affordable housing in the Augusta area, Walton collaborated with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to build residential options to meet the needs of people with physical disabilities and senior citizens age 62 and older. The first community was opened in January 1996. Since then, Walton has worked with HUD to construct thirteen additional communities. Other locations are currently under review.

Walton's independent living communities offer one bedroom and two bedroom apartments. All units are ground level and handicapped accessible and feature energy efficient construction, an individual private entrance, washer/dryer connections and lighted parking areas.
