Fifth Annual Undercover Artists Show
Thursday, April 28, 2011
Lawn of Walton Rehabilitation Health System
Augusta, Georgia
For information, contact (706) 823-8584 or vgreene@wrh.org
Georgia artists with disabilities have been recognized and supported through the Pilot Clubs of Metro Atlanta since 1985 when an exhibition was first organized to display and encourage their artwork. The mission soon became to provide mediums through which Georgia artists could display their accomplishments in all disciplines of the arts and to create public awareness of artistic skills developed by these challenged artists who have overcome their disabilities. Through these efforts, the Georgia Artists with Disabilities Juried Art Show was born.
Walton Foundation in Augusta, GA began showing this artwork eight years ago by booking the exhibit for Walton Rehabilitation Health System and displaying the art in the corridors. All pieces travel the state and are available for purchase with the total income from sales returning directly to the artist. In an effort to advertise and spotlight this talented show of artists, the Walton Foundation created the Undercover Artists Show in 2007.
The fifth Annual Undercover Artists Show will be held on the grounds of Walton Rehabilitation Hospital on Thursday, April 28. Artwork from 100 well known artists, community leaders and local celebrities will be auctioned at a tented event. Guests will enjoy a delicious catered creations and music under the tent.
The fun bidding will begin at 7 pm with the names of the artists "undercover" or covered by a piece of tape. During the evening, the names will be unveiled for even more bidding and participants will be able to truly experience the notion that "art is in the eye of the beholder."
All proceeds from the Undercover Artists Show will benefit Walton Foundation's Camp To Be Independent, a five day spend the night camp for children, ages 8-21, with an acquired traumatic brain injury. Camp TBI is held every July in Rutledge, Georgia at Camp Twin Lakes, benefitting as many as 45 campers, at no cost to their families.
