Current Campaigns

Walton Foundation for Independence has recently engaged in a formal campaign effort entitled Hope for the Future.  This will be a multi-year, multi-faceted campaign aimed at securing the following advancements for Walton Rehabilitation Health System:

  • Transforming the inpatient hospital into a private room facility
  • Launching a research-focused Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program
  • Enabling Walton to delve further into the world of clinical research and assistive technologies.

The first step among these three initiatives is to secure funding for the transformation into a private room facility.  Below you will find a detailed explanation of this facet of Hope for the Future.

ENSURING THE FUTURE…RESPONDING TO A NEED

Many factors have contributed to Walton’s remarkable achievements through the years.  But, we are the community’s resource for rehabilitation because we have listened and responded appropriately when there is a need.  As the breadth of Walton continues to increase and our clients’ expectations continue to rise, our focus comes back to the cornerstone, the inpatient hospital where it all began.

As in the past, Walton will remain true to our commitment of providing the finest rehabilitative experience by responding to the rising demand of privacy during an inpatient stay.   Therefore, Walton Rehabilitation Hospital will convert its existing double-occupancy inpatient rooms to the industry standard of private rooms.

The need is growing and the timing is eminent.  That is why our Board of Directors has authorized a $1 million campaign to partially fund this $2.5 million transformation to private rooms.   Afterwards, our patients will be afforded the comfort and respect they deserve.

“If there was one change I could make to my stay at Walton,
it would have been the privacy and comfort of my own room.”

 - Mike Pope, North Augusta, SC resident, Stroke Survivor

EXPONENTIAL BENEFITS.  INVALUABLE RESULTS.

The customer service benefits derived from private rooms are clear:  a comfortable and respectable stay in a facility that is clearly interested in the well-being of its patients.   To add to the story, private rooms also offer the following array of clinical benefits:

  • IMPROVED PATIENT OUTCOMES resulting from in-room therapy sessions providing a more functional setting for the patient.
  • IMPROVED COMMUNICATION between Walton’s dedicated staff, the patient, and concerned loved ones.  With increased emphasis on overall privacy issues and heightened healthcare regulations, private rooms provide an environment more conducive for discussing a patient’s condition and discharge planning.
  • FASTER RECOVERY TIMES resulting from less exposure to infection and disease transmission and overall better rest for the patient.
  • SHORTER LENGTHS OF STAY arising from a better environment in which new learned skills can be utilized, therefore promoting increased functional gains and a quicker return home.
  • LOWER HEALTHCARE COSTS OVERALL.

WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US IN ENSURING
